Following the recent abduction of at least 12 Iranian border se
curity gua
rds from an area close to the border with Pakistan, the Iranian government has called for an immediate operation by se
curity forces of both the countries in the border region to secure release of the hostages.
In a letter to his Pakistani counterpart Shehryar Afridi, Iranian Interior Minister Abdul Raza Rehmani Fazali has asked Pakistan to take stern action against terrorists active in the border region. The Iranian minister expressed concerns over the incident and urged Pakistan to launch a hunt for the recovery of the abducted officials. “Within the framework of bilateral relations and principle of good neighbourliness as well as se
curity commitments of the countries, undertaking joint works until achieving result is urgently essential,” Fazli said. “All efforts should focus on getting the hostages freed, decisively confronting the terrorists and preventing a recurrence of such incidents,” he added.

curity guards.
